AN APPEAL OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION’S JULY 13, 2023 DECISION\nCONDITIONALLY APPROVING A DEVELOPMENT PLAN REVIEW AND\nHISTORIC INCENTIVE PERMIT TO ALLOW FOR THE REHABILITATION OF\nAN EXISTING TWO-STORY COMMERCIAL BUILDING AND THE\nCONSTRUCTION OF A NEW THIRD STORY, ALONG WITH WAIVERS AND\nDEVIATIONS OF CERTAIN DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS AT 9884 SOUTH\nSANTA MONICA BOULEVARD, AND FINDING THE PROJECT EXEMPT\nFROM THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT.\nComment: On July 13, 2023, the Planning Commission adopted a resolution\nconditionally approving the rehabilitation of an existing two-story commercial\nbuilding with a new third story addition at the property located at 9884 South Santa\nMonica Boulevard and finding the project exempt from the California Environmental\nQuality Act. Subsequently, a timely appeal of the Planning Commission's decision\nwas filed on July 26, 2023, by Michael Tenner, on behalf of the Belvedere Hotel\nPartnership doing business as The Peninsula Beverly Hills. On September 12,\n2023, the City Council set the appeal hearing date for the project for December 5,\n2023.
