RESOLUTION APPROVING A BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR THE\nPROCUREMENT OF A POLICE DEPARTMENT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT\nVEHICLE\nSummary:\nThe Signal Hill Police Department is seeking approval for a budget amendment\nto procure a fully customized, 4x4 off-road Community Engagement Vehicle. If\napproved, the Community Engagement Vehicle would be used at citywide\ncommunity events such as National Night Out and recruitment fairs. The\nproposed Community Engagement Vehicle’s primary purpose is to strengthen\ncommunication between officers and the public, supporting the Police\nDepartment’s community policing and recruitment efforts. The vehicle’s compact\nsize and ability to be customized with branding, make it an effective tool to\ncapture public interest and build rapport with the Signal Hill community.\nThe City Council will consider the approval of the proposed community\nengagement vehicle, and corresponding budget adjustment. Staff has identified\nthat the vehicle make, model, and requested specifications is exclusively\navailable at a single dealership in Southern California. In compliance with the\nCity’s purchasing policy, the vendor has provided a sole source letter. The\nPolice Department has also negotiated preferred pricing for a 2025 model\nvehicle. As a result, the timing of the City’s budget adjustment request is critical\nto securing the vehicle at the promotional rate.\nStrategic Plan Goal(s):\nGoal No. 2 Community Safety: Maintain community safety by supporting\npublic safety services and increasing emergency preparedness.\nRecommendation:\nAdopt a resolution, entitled:\nA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SIGNAL HILL,\nCALIFORNIA AMENDING THE ADOPTED BUDGET AND AUTHORIZING\nBUDGET APPROPRIATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024-2025
