8. Supporting the Advanced Provider Response Units\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Solis and Hahn: Instruct the Fire\nChief, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Director of Health Services, in\ncollaboration with the Directors of Mental Health and Public Health, local health\nplans, and hospitals, to report back to the Board in writing in 30 days with an\nidentified ongoing funding source, and if not possible, one-time bridge funding,\nto sustain and expand the Advanced Provider Response Unit (APRU) Program\nto all Districts, and given the impending end of current funding, the\nconsideration for a one-time funding gap should look at opioid settlement funds,\namong other sources of funding, given the intersection of the APRU program\nand substance use health emergencies; and instruct the Fire Chief, in\ncollaboration with the Directors of Health Services, Mental Health and Public\nHealth, local health plans, and hospitals, to develop and enhance continued\npartnerships to improve the care coordination and remove barriers to access\nphysical and behavioral health services of patients who seek avoidable\nemergency room visits.
