B. Adopt Resolution No. 2025- 03: A Resolution of The City Council of The City of\nRosemead Ratifying Director of Emergency Services Resolution No. 2025- 02\nProclaiming the Existence of A Local Emergency, and Confirming the Continued\nExistence of the Local Emergency\nThe National Weather Service has been tracking and projecting High Winds with\npredicted destructive damage to occur on January 7 through January 10, as well as\nlikely high winds early in the week of January 13, in the Los Angeles County region\nand the City of Rosemead. The windstorm will have the potential for causing\nextensive damage to life and property within the geographic area of the City of\nRosemead and poses an immediate threat.\nOn January 7, 2025, at approximately 7: 30 pm, 68 mph winds kicked up and many\ntree branches and trees fell throughout the city, impeding the public right away. To\nprotect the safety of the community, the City of Rosemead proclaimed a local\nemergency under the direction of Director of Emergency Services, Ben Kim, and a\nLevel 2 ( minimal staff) Emergency Operations Center ( EOC) was activated at 8: 30\np. m. to assist with windshield surveys, in coordination with and in support of our\nfield responders with windstorm related responses. In the morning on January 8, the\nwinds were calmer, and the clean- up efforts continued. As the city recovery begins,\nthe EOC remains activated at a Level 3 ( monitoring only).\nRecommendation: That the City Council take the following actions:\n1. Ratify Resolution No. 2025- 02, entitled:\nA RESOLUTION OF THE DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY\nSERVICES OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD PROCLAIMING\nEXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY\n2. Adopt Resolution No. 2025- 03, entitled:\nA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF\nROSEMEAD RATIFYING DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY\nSERVICES RESOLUTION NO. 2025- 02 PROCLAIMING THE\nEXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY, AND CONFIRMING\nTHE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
