9. Armed Security Guard Services for LA County Library Area Contracts\nRecommendation: Find that armed security guard services for LA County\nLibrary facilities can be performed more economically by an independent\ncontractor; approve and instruct the Chair to sign five contracts with Inter-Con\nSecurity Services Systems, Inc. (Inter-Con, Inc.), for the provision of as\nneeded armed security guard services at LA County Library facilities, for a\nmaximum period of five years and six months and a potential aggregate total of\n$65,795,597.19, effective on February 15, 2025, or three weeks following\nBoard approval, whichever is later; authorize the County Librarian to approve\nunanticipated work within the scope of the contract, and execute amendments\nto exercise renewal options, increase or decrease the number of facilities or the\ndays of service; amend terms and conditions in the contract, as may be\nrequired by the Board, and adjust the contract amount, accordingly; and find\nthat the proposed actions are not a project under the California Environmental\nQuality Act.
