G. Consideration and possible action to approve the construction plans and\nspecifications for the Hawthorne Boulevard at Eddinghill/Seamount Left Turn\nSignal Project (CIP Project 8857). (Awwad)\nRecommendation: 1) Approve the plans, specifications, and construction\ndocuments for the Hawthorne Boulevard at Eddinghill/Seamount Left Turn\nSignal Project (CIP Project 8857); 2) Approve an additional appropriation of\n$590,000 from the 1911 Street Lighting Act Fund for the Project; 3) Find that\nthe apparent low bidder established that a mistake was made in their bid,\nprovided written notice to the City within 5 working days after the opening of\nthe bids detailing how the mistake occurred, and demonstrated that the\nmistake made the bid materially different than intended as required by Public\nContracts Code §§ 5101 & 5103; 4) Award a construction contract for the\nHawthorne Boulevard at Eddinghill/Seamount Left Turn Signal Project to Alfaro\nCommunications Construction, Inc., in the amount of $570,968.01, with a\ncontingency of 10%, or $57,097, for a total amount of up to $628,065; and, 5)\nAuthorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the contracts, in forms\napproved by the City Attorney.\nAgenda Report
