8. ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT TO THE UTILITIES DEPARTMENT FROM THE SAN\nGABRIEL VALLEY MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT – F2M25-18, M2M25-31\nThe San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District (SGVMWD) provides reliable\nsupplemental water for the communities of Alhambra, Azusa, Monterey Park and Sierra\nMadre in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner. The City applied for a\ngrant through the SGVMWD Opportunities for Water Leadership Program, which offers\nfunding for water-efficient projects. On February 6, 2025, the grant was approved, and the\nfunding will be used to purchase and install water fountain/bottle refill stations at City Yard,\nas well as installing a filtration system at CSC and replace broken fixtures at City Hall, as\nwell as upgrade to water-saving plumbing faucets.\nRecommended Action: City Council accept a grant of $5,000.00 from the San\nGabriel Valley Municipal Water District to assist the Public Works and Utilities Department\nwith the purchase of water fountain/bottle refill stations and water-saving plumbing faucets\nat various locations including City Yard, City Hall, and CSC (Customer Service Center);\ndirect the Finance Director to appropriate the revenue and expenditure funds in the\namount of $5,000.00; authorize the City Manager or designee to sign or execute grant\ndocumentation; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize the Council’s\naction.
