Item 51: Approval of an Ordinance Authorizing an Extension of the End-of-life Computer\nHardware Donation Program with the San Diego Futures Foundation to Refurbish\nand Distribute to San Diegans in Need and\nAuthorizing Execution of the First Amendment to the Contract with the San Diego\nFutures Foundation for End-of-Life Computer Hardware Donation Project.\nTotal Estimated Cost of Proposed Action and Funding Source:\nThis is a net neutral ordinance; there are no costs associated with it.\nCouncil District(s) Affected: Citywide.\nProposed Actions:\nSubitem-A: (O-2025-102)\nIntroduction of an Ordinance authorizing the Mayor or his designee to continue a\nprogram administered by the City’s Chief Information Officer or his designee that donates\nused computer equipment to the San Diego Futures Foundation (SDFF) for SDFF to make\navailable to nonprofit organizations, low-income individuals, and other eligible\nparticipants, that the program will have its term extended by up to five (5) years, and that\nthe program will be exempt from the provisions of Section 22.0506 of the San Diego\nMunicipal Code regarding the disposal of Obsolete or Depreciated property.\nSubitem-A: 6 votes required pursuant to Charter Section 99.\nSubitem-B: (O-2025-103)\nIntroduction of an Ordinance authorizing the Mayor, or his designee, to execute the First\nAmendment to the Contract with the San Diego Futures Foundation for the End-of-Life\nComputer Hardware Donation Program, , extending the Contract for an additional three\n(3) year term, effective September 4, 2025 through September 3, 2028, with two (2)\nadditional one-year option periods, for a total contract term of ten (10) years, in\nconnection with the End-of-Life Computer Hardware Donation Program.\nSubitem-B: 6 votes required pursuant to Charter Section 99.\nCommittee Actions Taken:\nThis item was heard at the Budget and Government Efficiency Committee meeting on\nMarch 5, 2025.\nACTION: Motion by Vice Chair Moreno, second by Committee Member Elo-Rivera, to\nrecommend Council approval of staff’s proposed actions.\nVOTE: 4-0; Foster III-yea, Moreno-yea, Lee-yea, Elo-Rivera-yea.\nDepartment of Information Technology: Jonathan Behnke, (619) 533-3637\nCity Attorney Contact: Steven Lastomirsky
