7.3\nMunicipal Code Update: Repeal and Adopt Updated Fire Hazard Severity Zones, Special\nVegetation Management Areas, Resilience Measures, and Defensible Space Program\nReport Number: 25-0168\nLocation: Areas within the City designated as Fire Hazard Severity Zones as defined by the\nOffice of the State Fire Marshal and/or Special Designated Vegetation Management Areas as\ndetermined by the Chula Vista Fire Chief.\nDepartment: Fire\nG.C. § 84308 Regulations Apply: No\nEnvironmental Notice: The activity is not a "Project" as defined under Section 15378 of the\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act State Guidelines. Therefore, pursuant to State Guidelines\nSection 15060(c)(3), no environmental review is required. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the\nactivity qualifies for an Exemption pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) of the California\nEnvironmental Quality Act State Guidelines.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION:\nConduct the public hearing and place the following ordinances on first reading: A) Amending\nChula Vista Municipal Code Chapter 15.34 (Fire Zones) to adopt revised Fire Hazard Severity\nZones as identified by the State Fire Marshal and pursuant to Government Code Section\n51178, along with a Special Designated Vegetation Management Area and Wildfire Resilience\nMeasures (First Reading); and B) Amending Chula Vista Municipal Code Chapter 8.32 (Weed\nAbatement) to adopt revised Defensible Space and Vegetation Management requirements for\nareas within the newly mapped Fire Hazard Severity Zones, and Citywide. (First Reading)
