3. Promoting Social Media Safety Among Children and Youth\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Solis: Instruct the Directors of\nPublic Health, Mental Health, and Youth Development, as well as the\nSuperintendent of Schools of the Los Angeles County Office of Education, to\nreport back to the Board in writing in 180 days with the following:\nAdapted existing educational curricula and material on safe social media\nuse for children and youth enrolled in TK-12 educational settings, in\nmultiple languages;\nAdapted existing materials on safe social media use for parents and\nguardians, in multiple languages;\nConsistent Countywide messaging on social media safety;\nA consolidation of existing data, resources, and materials on social\nmedia safety, and use multiple strategies and sites to ensure easy\naccess to this information; and\nBest practices on social media safety, including smartphone use in the\nTK-12 population to expand on existing curricula, identified via\nengagement of community stakeholders and subject matter experts.\n(24-4173)\nAttachments: Motion by Supervisor Solis\nPublic Comment/Correspondence
