22. Proclaiming October 2024 as “Disability Employment Awareness Month”\nin the County of Los Angeles\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Hahn: Proclaim the month of\nOctober 2024 as “Disability Employment Awareness Month” throughout Los\nAngeles County; and instruct the Director of Personnel to bring awareness,\nresources, and education to the County workforce, continue to advance\neducation and advocacy efforts related to disability compliance for\nDepartmental Disability Management and Compliance Coordinators,\nSupervisors, and Managers, hold the annual Disability Employment Symposium\nin partnership with the Department of Aging and Disabilities and the Los\nAngeles County Commission on Disabilities during Disability Employment\nAwareness Month to support capacity building for Departmental Disability\nManagement Coordinators Countywide; encourage all Department Heads to join\nthe effort to educate their employees and supervisors on their roles and\nresponsibilities in the disability compliance process; and encourage all\nmanagers to learn about the disability process and protection of disabled\nemployees under the law, and ensure that they exemplify the County’s\ncommitment to supporting and ensuring timely access to the disability process,\nas needed.
