6.E. SPONSORSHIP OF A PANEL DISCUSSION FOCUSED ON THE\nCONFLICT IN UKRAINE AND ITS IMPACT ON THE LGBTQ+\nCOMMUNITY AS PART OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS SPEAKERS SERIES\n[J. HEILMAN, Y. QUARKER, A. LOVANO, J. DEL TORO, J.\nDUCKWORTH, L. BIERY, R. EHEMANN, J. TRIBBLE]:\nSUBJECT: The City Council will consider sponsoring a panel discussion\nfocused on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, amid the Russian invasion,\nand its impacts on the LGBTQ+ community.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Approve the sponsorship of a panel discussion\nfocused on the conflict in Ukraine and its impacts on the LGBTQ+\ncommunity, as part of the Human Rights Speakers Series; 2) Authorize\nthe use of the City name and logo on invitations, programs, and other\ncollateral materials for the event; 3) Direct the Communications\nDepartment to utilize all appropriate communication tools to promote the\nevents including, but not limited to, the City’s website, a press release,\nand social media tools; and 4) Authorize the Director of Finance and\nTechnology Services to approve the use of $1,000 from budgeted funds in\nthe Special Council Programs account 100-1-01-01-531001 for costs\nassociated with this event.\nEXCLUDED CONSENT CALENDAR: Items removed from the Consent Calendar for\nseparate discussion are considered at this time.\nPUBLIC COMMENT: This time has been set aside for the public to address the\nCouncil on any item of interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the\nCouncil that could not be heard under Item 1 at the beginning of the meeting.\nCOUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS AND MEETING ATTENDANCE REPORTS: This\nportion of the meeting is set aside for general comments, announcements,\nrequests of staff, subcommittee meeting reports, and/or other issues of concern\nfrom members of the City Council.
