6.F. SPONSORSHIP OF A SUSTAINABILITY TOWN HALL IN\nPARTNERSHIP WITH ATHENS SERVICES [C. BYERS, Y. QUARKER,\nA. LOVANO, J. DEL TORO]:\nSUBJECT: The City Council will consider sponsoring a Sustainability\nTown Hall in partnership with Athens Services. The town hall will focus on\nzero waste and implementation of California’s new law related to organic\nwaste (Senate Bill 1383).\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Direct staff to organize a Sustainability Town\nHall in partnership with Athens Services on the topic of zero waste and\norganic waste implementation (Senate Bill 1383); 2) Authorize the use of\nthe City name and logo on invitations, programs, and other collateral\nmaterials for the event; 3) Direct the Communications Department to\nutilize all appropriate communication tools to promote the event including,\nbut not limited to, the City’s website, a news release, and social media; 4)\nAuthorize the Director of Finance and Technology Services to allocate\n$2,000 from Fiscal Year 2023-24 funds in the Special Council Programs\naccount number 100-1-01-00-531001 for costs associated with the event;\nand 5) Waive the Facility Use fee for the City Council Chambers for the\nevent, parking fees at the 5-story parking lot for attendees, and any other\nancillary City permits that may be required for the event (estimated $1,240\nin waived fees).\nEXCLUDED CONSENT CALENDAR: Items removed from the Consent Calendar for\nseparate discussion are considered at this time.\nPUBLIC COMMENT: This time has been set aside for the public to address the\nCouncil on any item of interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the\nCouncil that could not be heard under Item 1 at the beginning of the meeting.\nCOUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS AND MEETING ATTENDANCE REPORTS: This\nportion of the meeting is set aside for general comments, announcements,\nrequests of staff, subcommittee meeting reports, and/or other issues of concern\nfrom members of the City Council.
