6.F. CO-SPONSORSHIP OF AMERICAN BORN CHINESE\nFOUNDATION’S 2024 LOS ANGELES CHILDREN’S BOOK\nFESTIVAL AND DIRECTION TO EXPLORE A CITY OF WEST\nHOLLYWOOD BOOK FAIR [J. HEILMAN, C. BYERS, Y.\nQUARKER, A. LOVANO, J. DEL TORO, M. MÁRQUEZ]:\nThe City Council will consider co-sponsoring the American Born\nChinese Foundation’s (ABCF) Los Angeles Children’s Book Festival\nto be hosted in West Hollywood Park on Sunday, September 8,\n2024. The City Council will also consider directing staff to evaluate\nadding a second day of programming to the ABCF Book Festival,\nwhich would include a City-sponsored Book Fair.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Approve a Co-Sponsorship Agreement\nwith the American Born Chinese Foundation for the Los Angeles\nChildren's Book Festival on Sunday, September 8, 2024 and\napprove the use of West Hollywood Park for the event; 2) Authorize\nthe City Manager to execute documents incident to the Agreement;\n3) Authorize the use of the City name and logo on invitations,\nprograms, and other collateral materials; 4) Waive the Facility Use\nFee, Special Event Permit fee, Encroachment fee, other ancillary\nfees, and parking at the 5-story parking structure for event\nvolunteers and vendors (estimated $2,290); 5) Direct the\nCommunications Department to utilize all appropriate\ncommunications tools to promote the event such as the City's\nwebsite and social media tools; 6) Authorize the Director of Finance\n& Technology Services to allocate $5,000 from budgeted funds in\nthe Special Council Programs account number 100-1-01-00-\n531001 for costs associated with ABCF's event; 7) Direct staff to\nexplore adding an additional day of programming to the ABCF\nevent, which would include a City-sponsored Book Fair; and 8)\nReport back within 90 days to Council with an update on the City-\nsponsored Book Fair and a request for additional funding as\nneeded.\nSTAFF REPORT\nITEM 6.F. - ATTACHMENT A\nEXCLUDED CONSENT CALENDAR: Items removed from the Consent\nCalendar for separate discussion are considered at this time.\nPUBLIC COMMENT: This time is set aside for the public to address the\nCouncil on any item of interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the\nCouncil that could not be heard under Item 1 at the beginning of the\nmeeting.\nCOUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS AND MEETING ATTENDANCE REPORTS:\nThis portion of the meeting is set aside for general comments,\nannouncements, requests of staff, subcommittee meeting reports, and/or\nother issues of concern from members of the City Council.
