45. Park Maintenance and Mowing Services Contracts\nRecommendation: Find that park maintenance and mowing services can be\nperformed more economically by independent contractors; approve and instruct\nthe Chair to sign three contracts as detailed below, for park maintenance,\nand/or mowing services at various facilities within the County (3, 4 and 5), for\nthree years, with two one-year and six month-to-month extension options, if\nneeded, for a total term of five years and six months, and with a potential total\nterm of 66 months and 10% increases annually for unforeseen services:\n(Department of Parks and Recreation) APPROVE\nWith Parkwood Landscape Maintenance, Inc., for mowing services at\nPeter F. Schabarum Regional Park at an annual amount not to exceed\n$30,229 and a total maximum amount of $182,885.45;\nWith Parkwood Landscape Maintenance, Inc., for park maintenance\nservices at La Crescenta Area Parks at an annual amount not to exceed\n$273,324 and for a total maximum amount of $1,653,610.20; and\nWith Rich Meier’s Landscaping, Inc., for park maintenance services at\nEl Cariso Community Regional Park at annual amount not to exceed\n$445,781 and for a total maximum amount of $2,696,975.05; and\nAuthorize the Director of Parks and Recreation to exercise two one-year\ncontract renewal options for each contract if, in her opinion, the contractors\nhave effectively performed the services during the previous contract period and\nthe services are still required and, if needed, the additional six month-to-month\nextension options for each contract; approve and execute change notices and\namendments to incorporate necessary changes within the scope of work;\nassign rights or delegation of duties should the contracting entities merge, be\nacquired or otherwise change entities; suspend or terminate any contract if, in\nthe opinion of the Director, it is in the best interest of the County; increase the\ncontract amount for each contract by up to 10% in any year, including any\nrenewal option period, for any additional or unforeseen services within the\nscope of each contract; adjust the annual contracts amount for each option\nyear to allow for an annual Cost of Living adjustment in accordance with County\npolicy and the terms of these contracts; and decrease the contract amount for\neach contract in any year, including any renewal option period, as necessary\nto reflect required modifications in services and/or budget reductions.\n(23-3754)\nAttachments: Board Letter\nPublic Comment/Correspondence
