8. Reimagining Los Angeles County’s Approach to Human Trafficking\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Solis: Instruct the Director of\nConsumer and Business Affairs, through the Office of Immigrant Affairs and the\nOffice of Labor Equity, in close consultation and collaboration with the Los\nAngeles County Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Director of\nPublic Health, through the Office of Women’s Health, to report back to the\nBoard in writing in 90 days, regarding the following:\nPast efforts in addressing human trafficking in the County;\nThe current state of affairs in the County as to abating and eliminating\nhuman trafficking and as to providing support to survivors, with specific\nattention to the issue of labor trafficking in impacted immigrant\ncommunities in the County, including the San Gabriel Valley and La\nPuente, and other areas such as Pomona;\nAn analysis of, and recommendations about adopting a Countywide\npublic health approach to combatting human trafficking;\nRecommendations for actions on establishing a pilot worker’s resource\ncenter in Monterey Park, including feasibility, necessary resources,\nexisting resources, potential community-based organization partners, and\nother potential locations for future centers; and\nAn analysis of, and recommendations regarding establishing a\nCountywide human trafficking coordinating unit to integrate and\nharmonize the work of all County agencies and community-based\norganizations, including the Thai Community Development Center,\nSaving Innocence, the Coalition Against Slavery and Trafficking, and\nother non-government stakeholders relevant to the long-term mission of\nreducing and eliminating human trafficking in the County.
