22. Notification of Critical Incidents Regarding Justice-Involved Youth, by the\nLos Angeles County Probation Department\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Horvath: Instruct the Interim Chief\nProbation Officer, in consultation with County Counsel, the Chief Executive\nOfficer, the Inspector General, the Executive Director of the Probation\nOversight Commission, and any other relevant Department Heads, to implement\na new Critical Incident Notification policy, related to critical incidents involving\njustice-involved youth, that encompasses all of the recommendations provided in\nthe Inspector General’s May 1, 2023 report entitled, “Report Back on the Office\nof Inspector General’s Recommendations for a Communications/ Reporting\nProcess from the Probation Department to the Board, Office of Inspector\nGeneral, and Probation Oversight Commission,” and report back to the Board in\nwriting in 60 days on the status of implementation, and evaluate training,\ntechnical applications, and policy, and make revisions or develop new policy\nand standards as it relates to the implementation of the new Critical Incident\nNotification policy, related to critical incidents involving justice-involved youth,\nand report back to the Board in writing in 90 days on those policies and\nstandards; and instruct the Interim Chief Probation Officer to report back to the\nBoard in writing in 120 days on the Probation Department’s completed new\nCritical Incident Notification policy, related to incidents involving justice-involved\nyouth, updated to meet the standards of the aforementioned criteria.
