6.B. SPONSORSHIP OF A DISCUSSION WITH\nFORMER LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPERVISOR\nZEV YAROSLAVSKY [J. HEILMAN, Y. QUARKER,\nJ. DEL TORO]:\nThe City Council will consider approving the\nsponsorship of a discussion with former Los Angeles\nCounty Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky to discuss his\nlatest memoir "Zev’s Los Angeles: From Boyle\nHeights to the Halls of Power" in partnership with\nBook Soup.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Approve the sponsorship\nof a discussion with former Los Angeles County\nSupervisor Zev Yaroslavsky in partnership with Book\nSoup; 2) Authorize the use of the City's name and\nlogo on invitations and other collateral materials for\nthe forum, which Book Soup may produce; 3) Direct\nthe Communications Department to utilize all\nappropriate communication tools to promote the\nevent including, but not limited to, the City's website,\na press release, and social media tools; and 4)\nWaive the Facility Use fee for the City Council\nChambers for the event, parking fees at the 5-story\nparking lot for attendees, and any other ancillary City\npermits that may be required for the event (estimated\n$1,240 in waived fees).\nSTAFF REPORT\nEXCLUDED CONSENT CALENDAR: Items removed from\nthe Consent Calendar for separate discussion are\nconsidered at this time.\nPUBLIC COMMENT: This time is set aside for the public to\naddress the Council on any item of interest within the\nsubject matter jurisdiction of the Council that could not be\nheard under Item 1 at the beginning of the meeting.\nCOUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS AND MEETING\nATTENDANCE REPORTS: This portion of the meeting is\nset aside for general comments, announcements, requests\nof staff, subcommittee meeting reports, and/or other issues\nof concern from members of the City Council.
