15. Support for Senate Bill 244 (Eggman): Right to Repair Act\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Horvath: Direct the Chief\nExecutive Officer, through the Legislative Affairs and Intergovernmental\nRelations Division, to support Senate Bill 244 (Eggman), legislation which would\nrequire consumer electronics manufacturers to provide parts and service\nmaterials to independent service dealers regulated by the Department of\nConsumer Affairs and to individual owners, saving consumers hundreds of\ndollars by repairing instead of replacing their electronics and keeping electronic\nwaste out of County landfills; and authorize the County’s Legislative Advocates\nin Sacramento to take the appropriate legislative advocacy actions to advance\nthis effort.
