15. Supporting the Doula Workforce’s Ability to Claim Medi-Cal\nReimbursement and Provide Quality Birthing Services to At-Risk\nPregnant Women\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Mitchell: Direct the Chief\nExecutive Officer to report back to the Board during the 2023-24 Supplemental\nBudget on available funding sources, including local, State, Federal, health\nplan, and philanthropic sources, to establish a doula hub as recommended in\nthe Department of Public Health’s May 17, 2023 report entitled, “Supporting and\nExpanding the Doula Workforce in Los Angeles County;” instruct the Directors\nof Public Health and Health Services, and the Chief Executive Officer, to report\nback to the Board in writing in 60 days with a timeline for implementation,\npending funding availability, including an update as to how the Department of\nHealth Services can work with the Department of Public Health (DPH) on the\nproposed doula hub efforts and detail how DPH will complement efforts that the\nCalifornia Department of Health Care Services implements in regard to the\nDoula Implementation Workgroup, as required by Senate Bill 65 and other\nefforts to implement the new doula benefit at the State level.
