2. Uplifting Arts, Culture, and Recreation during the 2023, 2026, and 2027\nWorld Cups and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Solis and Hahn: Direct the Chief\nExecutive Officer, in collaboration with the Directors of Parks and Recreation\nand Arts and Culture, to support Los Angeles County Metropolitan\nTransportation Authority (LA Metro) to apply for funds and/or leverage County\nresources for LA Metro’s special grant program that transforms streets,\ntransportation facilities, and public spaces into temporary art, culture, and\nrecreation hubs for local communities, with an emphasis on underserved\ncommunities, to celebrate the 2026 Men’s’ World Cup, 2028 Olympic and\nParalympic Games, and, if hosted in Los Angeles, the 2027 Women’s World\nCup Games; instruct the Director of Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with\nthe Director of Arts and Culture, to identify opportunities to host viewing parties\nand other events for this summer’s upcoming Women’s World Cup that\ncelebrates and promotes women in sports, and report back to the Board in\nwriting in 120 days with a funding plan that includes potential funding sources;\nand instruct the Director of Arts and Culture to convene a committee made up\nof representatives from the Los Angeles City/County Native American Indian\nCommission, the Human Relations Commission, the County Library, the\nDepartments of Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Regional Planning, Aging\nand Disabilities, and Internal Services, and report back to the Board in writing\nin 120 days on cross-sector opportunities to celebrate the 2026 Men’s’ World\nCup, 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and, if hosted in Los Angeles, the\n2027 Women’s World Cup.
