3. Proclaiming May 2023 as “Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage\nMonth”\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Solis and Hahn: Proclaim the\nmonth of May 2023 as “Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month”\nand take the following actions:\nDirect the Chief Executive Officer, through the Countywide\nCommunications Office, to work with all County Departments to highlight\nand promote their respective Asian American and Pacific Islander\n(AAPI) Heritage Month activities, events, and programs on County\nwebsites and social media platforms;\nRecognize the Chinese Employee Association of Los Angeles County,\nKorean American Employee Association of Los Angeles County, Los\nAngeles County Asian American Employee Association, Los Angeles\nCounty Cambodian Employee Association, Los Angeles County Filipino\nAmerican Employee Association, and the Vietnamese Employee\nAssociation of Los Angeles County for their dedication and service to the\n10,000,000 residents of the County;\nWaive parking fees in the amount of $2,500 for approximately 250\nvehicles at the Music Center Garage, excluding the cost of liability\ninsurance, for community members attending the First Supervisorial\nDistrict’s AAPI Heritage Month Reception, to be held on May 19, 2023;\nDirect the Chief Executive Officer, through the Legislative Affairs and\nIntergovernmental Relations Division, to support Senate Bill 434 (Min) -\nTransit Operators: Street Harassment Survey; and\nInstruct the Director of Mental Health, in collaboration with relevant\nDepartments and community partners, to conduct a public outreach\ncampaign, utilizing traditional, hyperlocal, ethnic, and social media, to\nraise awareness of Los Angeles County Mental Health Awareness Month,\nand uplift resources available to County residents; and work with the\nChief Executive Officer, community-based organizations, and\nFederally-qualified health clinics, to explore expansion of the successful\n“Tea Time” initiative to other AAPI-communities, and identify similar\ninterventions that can be explored for other communities of color,\nincluding Latino/a, Black/African American, Native/Indigenous, and\nLGBTQ+ residents.
