48. Mesa Heights Garbage Disposal District Contract\nRecommendation: Find that circumstances exist pursuant to Public Resources\nCode Section 49020, such that the public health, safety, and welfare require the\nextension of the Mesa Heights Garbage Disposal District contract for a term not\nto exceed six months on terms that are necessary and proper for the continued\ncollection of refuse, organic waste, and recyclables from residential,\nmultifamily, commercial properties, and illegal dumping discards from public\nrights-of-way within the Mesa Heights Garbage Disposal District (2); approve a\nsole source amendment to the Mesa Heights Garbage Disposal District contract\nwith Universal Waste Systems, Inc., to extend the term of the contract on a\nmonth-to-month basis for up to six months, starting July 1, 2023, while the\nDepartment of Public Works completes the outreach and solicitation process\nfor the new contract; and authorize the Director of Public Works to execute a\nsole source amendment to the Mesa Heights Garbage Disposal District\ncontract.
