18. Declaring May 2023 as "Older Americans Month" and May 25, 2023, as\n"Older Americans Day" in Los Angeles County\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Hahn: Proclaim the month of May\n2023 as “Older Americans Month;” instruct the Director of Aging and\nDisabilities to provide information to all County Departments about Older\nAmericans Month and how they can celebrate and honor older adults in their\ncommunities and Departments, and to coordinate with the Los Angeles County\nCommission for Older Adults, the community and senior centers, both city and\nCounty, and other stakeholders, to organize the 58th Annual Older Americans\nRecognition Day Event, which will be held virtually in May; and join in\nacknowledging Older American Award recipients in all Districts Countywide,\nincluding the Fourth Supervisorial District honorees: Alicia Alvarez, Larry\nBlunden, Dr. Esteban M. Gomez, Bill Henley, Steve Jones, Debrah Medina,\nHelen Duernberger, Pat Pangan, Norma Parra, Ana Maria Sanchez Flores,\nWilliam Skacan, and Ron Smith, for their contributions to the County, in honor\nof Older Americans Month.
