15. Strengthening Gun Regulations in Los Angeles County\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Horvath and Solis: Instruct the\nInterim County Counsel to draft an ordinance within 90 days and report back to\nthe Board with the proposed language, or incorporate language into pending\ngun licensing amendments, requiring signs to be displayed with specific\nlanguage warning customers about the risk associated with access to firearms\nat any site where firearm sales or transfers are conducted in the locality; and to\ntake the following actions:\nWithin 90 days, draft an ordinance and report back to the Board with the\nproposed language, requiring all firearms in a residence be securely\nstored in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock; and\nReport back to the Board in 90 days with options for draft ordinance\nlanguage that would mandate liability insurance for gun owners in the\nCounty and the feasibility of implementing a County gun registry, or in\ncoordination with the Sheriff’s Department, ways to use existing\ndata/records to create a gun database that is easily accessible for law\nenforcement first responders.
