Investigation into the Death of April Valentine While Giving Birth at\nCentinela Hospital\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Mitchell: Direct the Chief\nExecutive Officer, through the Legislative Affairs and Intergovernmental\nRelations Division, to send five-signature letters to Governor Gavin Newsom,\nCalifornia Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly, State\nAttorney General Rob Bonta, State Senator Steven Bradford, and State\nAssemblymember Tina McKinnor, urging a State investigation into the care and\ncircumstances surrounding the death of Ms. April Valentine, with a report back\nfrom State officials to Ms. Valentine’s family, as soon as reasonably possible,\non the outcomes of the investigation, with the letter to also request a review of\nCentinela Hospital's compliance with the California Dignity in Pregnancy and\nChildbirth Act.
