9. Concern Over Broadband Infrastructure Grants Bypassing Los Angeles\nCounty\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Solis: Direct the Chief Executive\nOfficer, through the Legislative Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations Division,\nin collaboration with the Director of Internal Services, to send a five-signature\nletter to Alice Busching Reynolds, President of the California Public Utilities\nCommission, with copies to the Office of the Governor’s Legislative Affairs\nDivision, the Los Angeles County Legislative Delegation and Legislative\nleadership, expressing concern about the apparent lack of equity focus on the\nSenate Bill 156 Federal Funding Account Priority Areas and requesting\nreconsideration of the Priority Areas; send a five-signature letter to\nChairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel of the Federal Communications Commission\n(FCC), with copies to the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, the\nNational Telecommunications and Information Agency, the Los Angeles County\nCongressional Delegation and the Senate and House Leadership, expressing\nconcern about the FCC’s National Broadband Map, including the reliance upon\nInternet Service Provider self-reported data, the burden placed upon\nconsumers, governments and advocacy groups to challenge that data, and the\naccuracy of the map locations such as incorrect designation of multi-family\ndwellings and community anchor institutions; and advocate in support of State\nand Federal legislation and regulations that provide funding for the development\nand expansion of broadband infrastructure and reliable, affordable networks to\nbridge the digital divide by increasing access to high-speed internet.
