2. Saving Lives by Making NARCAN Readily Accessible in the County’s\nJuvenile Halls and Camps\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Horvath and Hahn: Instruct the\nChief Probation Officer, in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer and the\nDirectors of Public Health and Health Services , through the Juvenile Court\nHealth Services Office, to report back to the Board in writing in 60 days with a\ndetailed plan to make NARCAN, also known as naloxone, readily accessible in\nthe juvenile halls and camps that includes, at a minimum, the following:\nAn implementation timeline that reflects urgency;\nAn analysis of how much NARCAN will be maintained at each facility;\nA budget that includes identification of the funding sources that will be\nused to implement the plan; and\nA description of the education and training that will be provided to all staff\nand partner agencies , including the Department of Mental Health and the\nLos Angeles County Office of Education; and\nInstruct the Chief Probation Officer, in consultation with the Interim County\nCounsel and the Director of Children and Family Services, to report back to the\nBoard in writing in 120 days , with an analysis of the feasibility of making\nNARCAN readily accessible in its contracted placements, such as Short Term\nResidential Temporary Placements, Emergency Shelters, etc. (23-0128)\nAttachments: Motion by Supervisors Horvath and Hahn\nPublic Comment/Correspondence
