18. Request for City Council Direction Regarding Homeless Outreach Services\nRequested by Councilmember Suarez.\n— Recommendation: that the City Council select one of the following options: A.) Open a position to hire a full time\nHomeless Outreach Coordinator position to work with staff in developing and implementing strategies to reduce the\nnumber of homeless in the community and to make direct contact with the homeless in the field; or B.) Direct staff to\nlook into direct contracting service opportunities with a county agency, a regional homeless agency, or non-profit\ngroup that specializes in homeless outreach services; or C.) Continue to work with South Bay Cities Council of\nGovernments and St. Margaret’s Center as well as other County and nonprofit organizations to provide outreach to the\nhomeless located in the City of Lawndale; or D.) Give direction to staff on another option for staff to pursue regarding\nhomeless outreach.
