Agenda Item 2

2.\nCONSIDERATION OF SUPPORTING THE ALHAMBRA TEACHERS ASSOCIATION\nFOOD PANTRY – F2M25-7, F2M25-17, M2M25-123\nAt the July 28, 2025 Council Meeting, Councilmember Andrade-Stadler requested a\ndonation of $60,000.00 to the Alhambra teachers Association (ATA) Food Pantry. A\nrequest from ATA and Urban Visionaries was subsequently submitted to the City for the\namount of $60,000.00. Urban Visionaries and ATA seek to address food insecurity,\nprovide immigrant resources and address systematic barriers faced by Alhambra students\nand families. The funding will assist approximately 500 Alhambra students and families. A\ndonation of $60,000.00 will require a draw down from the General Fund Reserves. The\nAlhambra Municipal Code and Resolution No. R2M25-8 establish the placement of the\nGeneral Fund Reserves, which are one-time unappropriated surplus funds for the City’s\nunanticipated or deferred needs. A target of 30% in General Fund Reserves has been\nestablished by the City Council and was included in the City’s 2025 Strategic Plan. The\ncurrent reserve balance is 20.6%, or $20,578,968. If approved, an account number and\ntransfer of $60,00.00 from the general fund will be initiated.\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council to consider a request to donate $60,000 from\nthe General Fund Reserves to the Alhambra Teachers Association Food Pantry and\nUrban Visionaries for food distribution and immigrant resources for high need families in\nAlhambra.
