(14) 23-0002-S1 AD HOC COMMITTEE ON CITY GOVERNANCE REFORM REPORT relative to establishing the City's position in the 2023-2024 State Legislative Program for Senate Bill (SB) 958 "County of Los Angeles Citizens Redistricting Commission" (Lara - Hall) that creates an independent process with a new commission and new redistricting maps for the City of Los Angeles before the April 2023 special election. Recommendation for Council action: NOTE and FILE the accompanying RESOLUTION to include in the City’s 2023-2024 State Legislative Program SPONSORSHIP and SUPPORT of any legislation applicable to any city with a population greater than three million which would urge the State of California through an emergency clause to move forward expeditiously on a Bill structured similarly to Senate Bill (SB) 958 "County of Los Angeles Citizens Redistricting Commission" (Lara - Hall) that creates an independent process with a new commission and new redistricting maps for the City of Los Angeles before the April 2023 special election.
