(32) 23-0038-S1 The City Council may recess to Closed Session, pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(1), to confer with its legal counsel relative to the following cases: Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles v. City of Los Angeles, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court, Case No. 22STCV39662; Newcastle Courtyards, LLC, etc., et al. v. City of Los Angeles, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Case No 2:23-cv-00104 JAK (ASx); Newcastle Courtyards, LLC, etc., et al. v. City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Superior Court, Case No. 23STCV00352. (These cases challenge Measure ULA, commonly known as the “mansion tax,” which imposes a new “Homelessness and Housing Solutions Tax” on certain transfers of residential and commercial real property in the City of Los Angeles.)
