(42) 23-0417 COMMUNICATION FROM THE CITY ATTORNEY relative to the request for retention of law firm Liebert Cassidy Whitmore to assist in the litigation Daniel Gonzalez, et al. v. City of Los Angeles and Jonathan Larocque v. City of Los Angeles. Recommendations for Council action, SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE MAYOR: AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to enter into a contract with the law firm Liebert Cassidy Whitmore to assist with the Gonzalez litigation and, as necessary, the Larocque litigation for an initial term of three years and in an initial amount of $75,000. DIRECT the City Administrative Officer (CAO) to identify funding in this amount for this contract and include it in the year-end Financial Status Report. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney, or designee, to prepare Controller instructions for any necessary technical adjustments, subject to the approval of the CAO, and authorize the Controller to implement the instructions.
