(24) 24-0082 CD 15 ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE REPORT relative to a report on the Wilmington oil spill event of January 20, 2024 from various agencies detailing factors leading up to the event, environmental impact, remediation, and related matters. Recommendation for Council action, pursuant to Motion (McOsker - Raman): REQUEST the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, California Geologic Energy Management Division, and the California Environmental Protection Agency, with assistance from the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Office of Petroleum and Natural Gas Administration, and the Bureau of Sanitation, to present to the Energy and Environment Committee a report relative to the full list of factors could have led to the Wilmington oil spill event on January 20, 2024. This should also include the cause of the incident, the volume released of crude oil and the volume recovered. Additionally, the required clean-up after the contamination and the cost of full remediation for the impacted streets in Wilmington should be included in the report. Fiscal Impact Statement: Neither the City Administrative Officer nor the Chief Legislative Analyst has completed a financial analysis of this report.
