(22) 24­0909 CD 6 PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE REPORT relative to the status of the Sepulveda Basin (Basin) and the fire incident which occurred on June 24, 2024; how the provisions of the Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) are being enforced in the Basin to ensure fire risk mitigation; and related matters. Recommendations for Council action, as initiated by Motion (Padilla ­ Raman): 1. INSTRUCT the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), with the assistance of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), City Administrative Officer (CAO), Chief Legislative Analyst (CLA), and the Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP), to report to Council Wednesday within 30 days on28, - August - of the Basin and thePAGE status the2024 fire incident 22 which occurred on June 24, 2024; and, how the provisions of the LAMC matters. Recommendations for Council action, as initiated by Motion (Padilla ­ Raman): 1. INSTRUCT the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), with the assistance of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), City Administrative Officer (CAO), Chief Legislative Analyst (CLA), and the Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP), to report to Council within 30 days on the status of the Basin and the fire incident which occurred on June 24, 2024; and, how the provisions of the LAMC are being enforced in the Basin to ensure fire risk mitigation, along with any recommendations to improve existing procedures to address encampments at the Basin. The report should also include fire risk mitigation recommendations for all other existing factors that lead to fires in the Basin. 2. INSTRUCT the LAFD, with the assistance of the LAPD, Bureau of Engineering, RAP, and Bureau of Sanitation, and in consultation with Council District 6 and the Office of the Mayor, to report to Council on potential public safety, fire risk, hazardous waste and flooding mitigation solutions both in and around the Basin. Fiscal Impact Statement: Neither the CAO nor the CLA has completed a financial analysis of this report.
