(36) 240810 COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE CITY ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (CAO) and LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND SAFETY (LADBS) relative to the execution of a contract amendment with KPFF Consulting Engineers for structural engineering training seminar services. A. COMMUNICATION FROM THE CAO Recommendation for Council action: AUTHORIZE the General Manager, Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with KPFF Consulting Engineers for structural engineering training seminar services, in substantial conformance with the draft contract, attached to the City Administrative report dated June 26, 2024, which has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney as to form. The proposed amendment would decrease the contract compensation by $31,000 and extend the contract term by 17 months resulting in a new maximum compensation amount of $748,000 with a term of four years and five months, effective May 1, 2020 through September 30, 2024. B. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE LADBS Recommendation for Council action: RECEIVE and FILE the CAO report dated June 26, 2024, attached to Council file No. 240810, inasmuch as no Council action is needed at this time because further revisions are required to the existing contract. Fiscal Impact Statement: The CAO reports that there is no impact to the General Fund. The proposed contract will be fully funded by the Building and Safety Building Permit Enterprise Fund (48R). Financial Policies Statement: The CAO reports that the recommendations in the report comply with the City’s Financial Policies in that the proposed to Council file No. 240810, inasmuch as no Council action is needed at this time because further revisions are required to the existing contract. Fiscal Impact Statement: The CAO reports that there is no impact to the General Fund. The proposed contract will be fully funded by the Building and Safety Building Permit Enterprise Fund (48R). Financial Policies Statement: The CAO reports that the recommendations in the report comply with the City’s Financial Policies in that the proposed contract will be funded by a special fund supported by dedicated funding sources and expenditures will be limited to the mandates of the funding source.
