19.\nTUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2025\nUpdating the Countywide Land Acknowledgement\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Solis: Adopt the following\nlanguage to be used as a formal Land Acknowledgment for the County and,\neffective on December 1, 2025, open all public meetings with the following\nCountywide Land Acknowledgment, to be verbally announced and displayed\nvisually:\nThe County of Los Angeles recognizes that we occupy land originally\nand still inhabited and cared for by the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh,\nand Chumash Peoples. We honor and pay respect to their elders and\ndescendants - past, present, and emerging - as they continue their\nstewardship of these lands and waters. We acknowledge that settler\ncolonization resulted in land seizure, disease, subjugation, slavery,\nrelocation, broken promises, genocide, and multigenerational trauma.\nThis acknowledgment demonstrates our responsibility and commitment to\ntruth, healing, and reconciliation and to elevating the stories, culture, and\ncommunity of the original inhabitants of Los Angeles County.
