14.\nAWARD CONTRACT: PURCHASE OF ONE POLICE PATROL VEHICLE – F2M26-6A,\nC2M26-7, M2M26-18\nOn September 7, 2025, Patrol Vehicle Unit 553 was involved in a non-injury traffic collision\nwhile on duty that sustained extensive damage. Following inspection, the insurance\nadjuster determined the vehicle to be a total loss. The California Joint Powers Insurance\nAuthority issued an insurance settlement to the City in the amount of $48,047.17. Due to\ncurrent market conditions and the cost of purchasing and outfitting a replacement patrol\nvehicle, the insurance proceeds are insufficient to cover the full replacement cost. Staff is\nrequesting authorization for additional funds from the Equipment Fund Reserves to cover\nthe shortfall, which after vehicle purchase and labor outfitting, the costs are estimated at\napproximately $58,438.90. Staff aims to acquire this new patrol vehicle through a\ncooperative purchase agreement. On February 8, 2024, Sourcewell opened bids for the\nprocurement of cars, vans, SUVs, and light trucks, along with related equipment,\naccessories, and services. Sourcewell awarded contract 09152-NAF to National Auto\nFleet Group in November 8, 2025, an agreement that does not expire until November 11,\n2026. Cooperative purchase is allowable per Alhambra Municipal Code 3.36.080(B)(3).\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council award a contract to National Auto Fleet Group,\nsubject to final language approval by the City Manager and City Attorney, for the purchase\nof one police patrol vehicle in the amount of $58,438.90; authorize additional\nappropriations in the amount of $10,391.73 to complete the purchase from the Equipment\nFund Reserves; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s\naction.
