(14)\n11-1345-S3\nCD 7\nARTS, PARKS, LIBRARIES, AND COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT\nCOMMITTEE REPORT relative to a long-term agreement between the\nDepartment of Animal Services (DAS) and Paws for Life K9 Rescue to\nprovide adoption, veterinary, and animal welfare services at the\nNortheast Valley Animal Services Center.\nRecommendation for Council action:\nAUTHORIZE retroactively the General Manager, DAS, or designee,\nto execute a long-term agreement with Paws for Life K9 Rescue to\nprovide adoption, veterinary, and animal welfare services at the\nNortheast Valley Animal Services Center, located at 15321 Brand\nBoulevard, Mission Hills in Council District Seven (CD 7), for a three-\nyear term beginning in January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2027,\nwith three one-year options to extend said agreement, subject to the\napproval of the City Attorney as to form.\nFiscal Impact Statement: The City Administrative Officer (CAO)\nreports that approval of the recommended action will authorize the\nDAS to execute an agreement with Paws for Life K9 Rescue for\nadoption, veterinary, and animal welfare services at the Northeast\nValley Animal Services Center from January 1, 2025 through\nDecember 31, 2027, with three one-year options to extend. The\nGeneral Services Department will provide basic facility maintenance\nfor the Northeast Valley Animal Services Center, including utility\nservice costs, of which is provided through the Water and Electricity\nFund. The City will realize cost savings through the recommended\naction during the term of the agreement based on the services that\nPaws for Life K9 Rescue will provide at no additional cost to the City.\nThere is no additional fiscal impact to the General Fund.\nFinancial Policies Statement: The CAO reports that the recommended\naction is in compliance with the City’s Financial Policies in that\nbudgeted funds are used for intended purposes.
