6.\nAWARD CONTRACT: PURCHASE OF CARBON MEDIA FOR THE GROUND WATER\nTREATMENT PLANT – F2M26-6B, RFP2M26-3, C2M26-26, M2M26-69\nOn March 23, 2026, the City Council approved distribution of a Request for Proposals for\nthe purchase of carbon filter media for the Ground Water Treatment Plant. On April 23,\n2026, two proposals were received. Staff conducted a review and evaluation of the\nresponding proposals and Calgon Carbon Corporation was selected based on their\nqualifications, standards of quality, capability to deliver product throughout the contract\nterm, third party hauling company’s reputation, flexibility, references and cost of the\nproduct. Additionally, Calgon Carbon Corporation provides carbon that is approved by the\nState of California State Water Resources Control Board - Division of Drinking Water to\nbe used at the City’s Ground Water Treatment Plant.\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council award a contract, subject to final language\napproval by the City Manager and City Attorney, by and between the City of Alhambra and\nthe Calgon Carbon Corporation for the purchase and installation of carbon filter media at\nthe Ground Water Treatment Plant in an amount not to exceed $350,000.00 for one year,\nwith two additional two-year renewal options, for a total amount not to exceed\n$1,050,000.00 over a three-year period, authorize the City Manager to execute the\nextensions if the services are satisfactory; and direct staff to undertake the steps\nnecessary to finalize Council's action.
