8. POTENTIAL PREFERRED PARKING DISTRICT ADJACENT TO THE COURTYARD\nBY MARRIOTT – F2M26-7\nOn May 11, 2026, during public comment, numerous residents expressed concern about\nspillover parking associated with the nearby Courtyard by Marriott. During Council\nCommunications, Councilmember Wang requested an item to discuss parking concerns\nand a Preferred Parking District (PPD) at the next City Council meeting. Alhambra\nMunicipal Code Chapter 11.29 allows for the City Council to establish Preferred Parking\nDistricts. The City currently has a PPD in the Midwick Park I Alhambra Hills neighborhood\nadjacent to CSULA, and another in the Hellman and 9th neighborhood adjacent to the\nAtlantic Time Square project. Outreach, including a survey, could be utilized to get resident\npreferences regarding boundaries and the days/times parking would be restricted if a PPD\nwere to be established.\nRecommended Action: City Council provide direction to staff as deemed\nappropriate.
