16. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FISCAL YEAR 2026 APPLICATION FOR SAFE\nSTREETS AND ROADS FOR ALL (SS4A) IMPLEMENTATION GRANT FUNDING FOR\nTHE GARFIELD AVENUE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY CORRIDOR PROJECT – F2M26-18,\nR2M26-19, M2M26-88\nThe U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program\nprovides competitive grant funding for projects that reduce roadway fatalities and serious\nSafety Corridor Project, which will implement pedestrian safety improvements along\nGarfield Avenue between Mission Road and Hellman Avenue. The total estimated cost of\nthe project is $4,964,368.00, of which 80% will be covered by the grant. The remaining\namount ($992,874.00) must be matched by the City. Measure R Local Return funds are\navailable to support this effort. The proposed project is consistent with the City’s adopted\nVision Zero resolution, Local Road Safety Plan, and “Walk, Bike, Move Alhambra” Active\nTransportation Plan.\nRecommended Action: City Council adopt Resolution No. R2M26-19: entitled: A\nof an application to the U.S. Department of Transportation for a Fiscal Year 2026 Safe\nStreets and Roads For All (SS4A) Implementation Grant for the Garfield Avenue\nPedestrian Safety Corridor Project; committing non-federal matching funds; and\nauthorizing the City Manager or designee to execute all documents necessary to receive\nand administer the Grant; commit the required non-federal matching funds in the amount\nof $992,874.00, if awarded; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize\nthe Council’s action.
