F.2. EXPANSION OF CONTRACTED SHELTER AND VETERINARY SERVICES FOR UNSHELTERED ANIMALS [L. MEISTER]: SUBJECT: The City Council will consider directing staff to identify one or more new contractors to offer more localized shelter services for unsheltered animals, and to designate funding to cover these services, as needed. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Direct staff to engage in outreach to local veterinary clinics, animal shelters, nonprofit organizations, and/or local businesses interested in partnering with the City and capable of offering temporary shelter for unsheltered animals closer to West Hollywood than the current providers; and 2) Authorize the Director of Finance & Technology Services to allocate up to $15,000 from budgeted funds in the Special Council Programs account number 100-1-01-00-531001 for costs associated with these new contracts.
