PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT relative to submitting an
application to the Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate
Innovation (LCI) for funding under Round 2 of the Extreme Heat and
Community Resilience Program, and related matters.
Recommendations for Council action, pursuant to Motion
(Blumenfield, Raman – Yaroslavsky):
1. INSTRUCT and AUTHORIZE the Bureau of Street Services
(BSS), with the assistance of any other relevant agencies, to
prepare and submit a pre-application form, full application, and
any other required materials to the LCI for funding under Round
2 of the Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program.
2. AUTHORIZE the BSS to partner with, at their discretion, a
501(c)(3) non-profit entity (or multiple entities) as the Co-
applicant(s) on the preparation of the pre-application form, full
application, and any other required materials, as per the
requirements of Round 2 of the Extreme Heat and Community
Resilience Program and to negotiate and execute any
necessary agreements to do so.
3. AUTHORIZE the BSS to partner with ShadeLA and its
constituent entities, and any other entities at the BSS’s
discretion, as Contributors on the preparation of the pre-
application form, full application, and any other required
materials, as per the requirements of Round 2 of the Extreme
Heat and Community Resilience Program and to negotiate and
execute any necessary agreements to do so.
4. AUTHORIZE the BSS to negotiate and execute the grant
agreement, and any related documents, or any other necessary
funding, cooperative agreements or contractual documents,
with the LCI, subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to
form and legality.
Fiscal Impact Statement: Neither the City Administrative Officer nor
the Chief Legislative Analyst has completed a financial analysis of this
report.
