(16) 26-0572 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT relative to designating the intersection of Temple Street and Figueroa Street as “America is in the Heart Square" and designating the intersection of First Street and Los Angeles Street as “Little Manila Square.” Recommendations for Council action, as initiated by Motion (Jurado – Blumenfield): 1. DESIGNATE the intersection of Temple Street and Figueroa Street as “America is in the Heart Square" to honor the presence of Filipino Americans especially Bulosan at this Little Manila site; and to DIRECT the Department of Transportation (DOT) to erect permanent ceremonial sign(s) to this effect at this location. 2. INSTRUCT the DOT to erect permanent ceremonial sign(s) at the intersection of First Street and Los Angeles Street in recognition of the historical location of Los Angeles’ original Little Manila site, and that it be designated as “Little Manila Square.” Fiscal Impact Statement: Neither the City Administrative Officer nor the Chief Legislative Analyst has completed a financial analysis of this report.
