Item 138: Authorization for the Library Department to Accept, Appropriate, and Expend\nGrant Funding from the California State Library for Construction of the New Oak\nPark Branch Library, Expansion of the Current Ocean Beach Branch Library,\nCompletion of an In-Depth Feasibility Study for the University Community Branch\nLibrary and Completion of Preliminary Design for the New San Carlos Branch\nLibrary.\nTotal Estimated Cost of Proposed Action and Funding Source:\nThe Library Department is seeking City Council Approval to apply for, accept and expend\na total of $27,900,000 in grant funding from the California State Library. The grant funds\nwill fund construction of a new Oak Park Branch Library and expansion of the current\nOcean Beach Branch Library. The grant funds will also fund completion of an in-depth\nfeasibility study for the University Community Branch Library expansion and completion\nof preliminary design for the new San Carlos Branch Library.\nCouncil District(s) Affected: 1, 2, 4, 7.\nProposed Actions:\n(R-2023-490)\nResolution authorizing the Library Department to secure, accept, appropriate, and expend\n$27,900,000 in grant funding from the California State Library for construction of a new\nOak Park Branch Library, expansion of the current Ocean Beach Branch Library,\ncompletion of an in-depth feasibility study for the University Community Branch Library,\nand completion of preliminary design for a new San Carlos Branch Library; and\nAuthorizing the Chief Financial Officer to increase the Library Department's Capital\nImprovements Program Budget by $27,900,000 for those projects, and to accept,\nappropriate, and expend an amount not-to-exceed $27,900,000 for those projects,\ncontingent upon receipt of documentation that such Grant funding is secured.\nCommittee Actions Taken: N/A\nLibrary: Raul Gudino, (619) 236-5889\nCity Attorney Contact: Jon D.
