CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION AND GUIDANCE REGARDING THE SELECTION\nAND APPOINTMENT OF CITY TREASURER\nComments:\nThe City Treasurer position has become vacant with the election of Gabriela Camacho to the City\nCouncil. Under Government Code Section 36512(b), the City must either appoint a person or call\nfor a special election to fill the vacancy within 60 days of the commencement of the vacancy.\n(Government Code Section 36512.) The vacancy commences when the City Treasurer takes the\noath of office as a Council Member.\nRecommendation:\nStaff recommends that the City Council discuss and provide guidance regarding the selection\nand appointment of City Treasurer.\nCity Council Options:\nThe City Council has the following options:\n1. Accept and review the applications submitted and make appointment for City Treasurer.\n2. Accept and review the applications submitted. Schedule a Special City Council Meeting to\nconduct interviews and make an appointment for City Treasurer by February 4, 2023.\n3. Accept and review the applications submitted. Create an ad hoc committee that will interview and\nmake recommendations to the City Council on appointment of the City Treasurer by February 4, 2023.\n4. City Council may provide alternative direction.
