A. YOUTH DIVERSION OUTREACH PROGRAM APPROVAL\nThe Youth Diversion Outreach Program is developed specifically for juvenile\noffenders who commit crimes in the City of San Gabriel. The goal of the\nprogram is to provide youth offenders with an alternative to incarceration and\nprovide the criminal justice system an alternative to filing cases against these\noffenders. The Youth Diversion Program is fully funded by the County of Los\nAngeles Department of Youth Development and has no impact on the police\nbudget. Supervision of the program will be conducted during normal duty\nhours through the Community Engagement Bureau.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Not a Project as\ndefined in Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council authorize the Interim Police Chief to\nenter into a Partnership Agreement with the Los Angeles County Department\nof Youth Development, Diversion Program. This program will be made available\nas a resource for all juvenile offenders in the City of San Gabriel.
