2.U. RESOLUTION DENOUNCING THE UNITED\nSTATES SUPREME COURT’S RECENT RULING\nREGARDING AFFIRMATIVE ACTION [S. SHYNE,\nC. BYERS, Y. QUARKER, J. DEL TORO]:\nThe City Council will consider adopting a resolution\nto denounce the United States Supreme Court’s\nrecent ruling in Students for Fair Admissions v.\nPresident and Fellows of Harvard College and\nStudents for Fair Admissions v. University of North\nCarolina, to end race-conscious admission programs\nat colleges and universities across the nation.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Adopt Resolution No. 23-\n_______ "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL\nOF THE CITY OF WEST HOLLYWOOD\nDENOUNCING THE UNITED STATES SUPREME\nCOURT'S RECENT RULING IN STUDENTS FOR\nFAIR ADMISSIONS V. PRESIDENT AND FELLOWS\nOF HARVARD COLLEGE AND STUDENTS FOR\nFAIR ADMISSIONS V. UNIVERSITY OF NORTH\nCAROLINA, ENDING RACE-CONSCIOUS\nADMISSION PROGRAMS AT COLLEGES AND\nUNIVERSITIES ACROSS THE NATION"; and 2)\nDirect staff to send a letter to President Joe Biden\nand copies of the letter to Senators Dianne Feinstein\nand Alex Padilla, Representative Adam Schiff,\nCalifornia Governor Gavin Newsom, CA State\nSenator Ben Allen, and CA Assembly Member Rick\nChavez Zbur, and others as deemed appropriate.\nSTAFF REPORT
