6.A. CO-SPONSORSHIP OF VAN NESS RECOVERY\nHOUSE 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION IN\nRECOGNITION OF SEPTEMBER AS NATIONAL\nRECOVERY MONTH [J. ERICKSON, Y.\nQUARKER, J. DEL TORO, J. DUCKWORTH]:\nThe City Council will consider a request to co-\nsponsor the Van Ness Recovery House’s 50th\nAnniversary Carnival Celebration on Saturday,\nSeptember 30, 2023, at Plummer Park from 11:00\nAM to 7:00 PM, in recognition of September as\nNational Recovery Month.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Approve the co-\nsponsorship of the Van Ness Recovery House's\nCarnival in celebration of their 50th Anniversary,\nscheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2023, from\n11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Plummer Park's Fiesta Hall\nand Great Lawn; 2) Approve the use of Fiesta Hall\nand Great Lawn at Plummer Park, waive any Facility\nUse Fees, Special Event Permit Fees, Encroachment\nPermit Fees, and the 3-hour parking limit at the\nPlummer Park parking lot for event participants, and\nany other ancillary City permits that may be required\nfor the event (estimated $2,424); 3) Authorize the use\nof the City name and logo on invitations, programs,\nand other collateral materials for the events; 4) Direct\nthe Communications Department to utilize all\nappropriate communication tools to promote the\nevent and the City's recovery, health, and mental\nhealth services in recognition of National Recovery\nMonth including, but not limited to, the City's website,\na press release, and social media tools; 5) Authorize\nthe City Manager or designee to execute documents\nincident to the co-sponsorship agreements; and 6)\nAuthorize the Director of Finance & Technology\nServices to allocate $5,000 from budgeted funds in\nthe Special Council Programs account number 100-\n1-01-00-531001 for costs associated with the events.\nSTAFF REPORT\nITEM 6.A. - ATTACHMENT A
